Sorensen praises Potters defence

Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen has said he is pleased with the way the Potters are defending.

Only Blackburn and West Brom have let in more Premier League goals than Stoke this season, but City have kept three clean sheets in their last six games.

Sorensen told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's very simple - the more clean sheets you keep, the more points you get.

"Defensively we've worked very hard, and a strong defence gives you the confidence to go forward."

Saturday's goalless draw with Fulham at the Britannia Stadium left the Potters lying 13th in the top flight with 20 points from 17 games.

Sorensen said Stoke's strong first half of the season has left them in a good position to avoid relegation.

"It's important to reach 40 points, 20 is obviously half-way but there's a lot of games to be played," said Sorensen.

"We look solid and we will be raring to go next against weekend against Blackburn, which is another important game."
