Griffin plays down players' spat

Stoke captain Andy Griffin has played down the altercation between Dave Kitson and Abdoulaye Faye during Saturday's goalless draw at Wigan.

The pair exchanged words before the situation was calmed by Ryan Shawcross and Salif Diao.

Griffin told BBC Radio Stoke: "What happens on the pitch, stays on the pitch, and that's the way it should be.

"When players argue it shows that they care. It is perhaps not nice to see but it is not harmful in any way."

The result stretched City's unbeaten run to three games and leaves them 12th in the Premier League.

"We're all pulling in the right direction and things are looking good at the moment, but we know things can change with a bad result," said Griffin.

"Our next league game is at Manchester United, we'll be going there to embrace the atmosphere and to enjoy the occasion but we'll also be looking to get a result."
