Stoke's Dave Kitson has said he is sad to see the Reading side that won promotion to the Premier League being broken up following their relegation.
As well as Kitson, Ibrahima Sonko has joined the Potters while Nickey Shorey has moved to Aston Villa.
The 28-year-old stiker told BBC Radio Stoke: "For me to see that football team break up is heartbreaking.
"It should have been together this season competing in the Premier League but sadly it wasn't to be."
In a twist of fate Reading have been drawn to meet Stoke at the Britannia Stadium in the third round of the Carling Cup, a game that Kitson will relish.
"I text some of my friends down there before the draw, we all knew it was coming," said Kitson.
"It's one of those things that always seems to happen in football, it's unbelievable how it works out.
"I've got a lot of affection for the club so I'll be looking forward to the game and even if I don't play, I'll be there watching."
