Stoke City have broken the club's transfer record by completing the �1.2m signing of defender Leon Cort from Championship side Crystal Palace. The 28-year-old, who has been on loan with the Potters since November, has signed a three-and-a-half year deal.
City will also pay an additional �200,000 if the club are promoted to the Premier League.
Cort told BBC Radio Stoke: "I'm delighted to come to Stoke because I know the club is going places."
Cort has made 15 appearances for the Potters, scoring four goals, since joining on loan from Palace in November.
He began his professional career with Southend United in 2001 before joining Hull City on a free transfer in 2004.
Cort made 91 appearances for Hull, scoring 10 goals in the process, and in 2006 he made a �1.25m move to Crystal Palace.
He played 50 times for the Eagles, scoring seven goals, and was also named the club's player of the year for last season.
His older brother, striker Carl, was released by Leicester on Friday.
