Stoke boss Tony Pulis is planning to sign Sunderland midfielder Rory Delap permanently in January. The 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international joined the Potters on a three-month loan earlier in the week.
However, he has been told that he is surplus to requirements on Wearside by new Black Cats manager Roy Keane.
"I don't see this as just a loan - that was part of me coming here. I want to settle down and start playing regularly again," Delap told BBC Radio Stoke.
