Lennon played at Leicester for four years before joining Celtic
Former Celtic and Northern Ireland midfielder Neil Lennon is a leading candidate to become the next Stockport manager, BBC Sport understands.
Jim Melrose, who is heading the consortium currently in the process of taking over at County, worked with Lennon at Leicester City.
Newspaper reports have also linked former Liverpool defender Gary Ablett with the vacant role.
The consortium hope to announce a new manager later this week.
Lennon, 38, recently took over from Willie McStay as reserve-team boss at Celtic Park, while Ablett left his role as Liverpool reserve team manager in May.
