Feeney has spent over three years with Bournemouth |
Stockport have claimed that they have agreed a deal with Bournemouth's out-of-contract Northern Ireland international striker Warren Feeney. As the Belfast-born star is only 23, Bournemouth are entitled to a fee.
Chairman Peter Phillips said: "It is now probable that in the absence of an acceptable offer from Stockport, the matter of the fee will go to tribunal."
Feeney has been a long-term target of County boss Sammy McIlroy, who handed him his international debut in 2002.
He began his career at Leeds, but moved to the south coast in the summer of 2001 after a successful loan spell at Dean Court, in which he scored four goals in 10 appearances.
Since joining permanently, Feeney has scored 32 goals in 98 league outings and won three full international caps, all under McIlroy. The Hatters manager made two bids for Feeney during last season, both of which were rejected.
McIlroy told the Manchester Evening News: "There were other clubs in for Feeney, including Luton and Brentford, but he said he wanted to play for me, which is gratifying."
