Stevenage have signed striker Ben May on a free transfer after his release by Scunthorpe at the end of last season.
The 26-year-old scored five times in 46 appearances during his two years at the Iron, but a back injury restricted him to just one game last term.
He told the Stevenage website: "I need to settle, I hardly played at all last season really.
"I've had to drop down a couple of leagues but that's fair enough. I'm looking forward to it now."
The former Millwall front man has spent the summer recovering from surgery to rectify his back problem and is not expected to be ready to start games for another four-to-six weeks.
He came through the youth ranks at the New Den and scored 14 league goals in 43 starts before leaving the club for Scunthorpe in 2008.
