Graham Westley's side fell to their first defeat of the pre-season campaign
Stevenage manager Graham Westley took positives out of the 2-1 defeat by Millwall in a friendly on Saturday.
He told the club's official website: "We made two defensive errors which led to two goals but that's all part of the pre-season process.
"We have a lot to be encouraged by, the players put together some good passages of play. It was a positive performance and we can take a lot from it."
Former Stevenage striker Steve Morison scored twice for the Lions.
Westley added: "I have picked the same line-up on successive Saturdays and that's an indication of where people are at. There will be players who in the latter stages of pre-season who come to the fore.
"I thought Jon Ashton did very well with the 15-minutes he played, so obviously he will be pushing a claim."
Stevenage are at home to Peterborough on Tuesday evening with Southend visiting the Lamex Stadium on Friday evening.
