Stevenage Borough have signed Ipswich defender Tommy Smith on loan.

Town boss Jim Magilton agreed earlier this week to allow the England Under-17 player to spend a month with Peter Taylor's Blue Square Premier side.

The Macclesfield-born centre back, who was brought up in New Zealand, has been a regular in the reserves.

Smith, 17, was taken on by Ipswich's academy at the start of the 2006/07 season and signed a three-year professional contract in August 2007.
