St Mirren boss Gus MacPherson upbeat after Dons loss

MacPherson has seen his side struggle in front of goal all season

St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson was not overly concerned at losing the final game of the league campaign at home to Aberdeen.

The 1-0 defeat meant the Paisley side finish up in 10th spot and MacPherson said: "We are just delighted to still be in the SPL.

"It's been a long, hard season, but the team has put the effort in over the last four or five weeks.

"Many managers would be happy to be in the position we are in."

MacPherson's side, who were 11th last term but with three more points, created the better chances in a typically tame end-of-season affair but lost out to a Lee Mair own goal.

The former Dons defender gave his old team a helping hand when a Darren Mackie shot ricocheted off him and flew into the net on 27 minutes.
