Lee Mair scored an own goal to give former club Aberdeen victory as St Mirren ended their Scottish Premier League campaign with defeat.
The defender diverted Darren Mackie's volley past goalkeeper Mark Howard in the 27th minute.
Billy Mehmet twice came close to levelling before the interval.
St Mirren substitute Rory Loy tested keeper Jamie Langfield in the second half and the Dons' Charlie Mulgrew had a free-kick saved by Howard late on.
With St Mirren having clinched safety from relegation in the previous seven days and Aberdeen destined to finish ninth, the match offered an opportunity for several players to shine in perhaps their final appearance for their respective clubs.
Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee also used the game to give Dominic Gibson a debut and Clark Robertson his first start.
There were few clear-cut chances in the opening quarter, but Aberdeen almost handed St Mirren the lead when Mulgrew put his goalkeeper in some difficulty.
The defender's volleyed back-pass caught Langfield by surprise and the stopper had to scramble across his line to kick the ball away.
Having come close to an own goal, Mulgrew was given the chance to net at the other end with a free-kick and the defender's curling, dipping effort was beaten out at the near post by Howard.
The Dons continued to press and were rewarded when Robertson's cross was volleyed towards goal by Mackie and Mair's deflection wrong-footed Howard as the ball spun into the net.
St Mirren were inches away from an equaliser when Mehmet rose to meet Andy Dorman's cross and headed against the base of the post before the ball trickled out.

Mehmet threatened again with a curling shot that Langfield got a hand to and there were no Saints players following in at the back post as the visitors cleared to safety.
The hosts continued with the same attacking line-up at the start of the second half and Dorman harried Jerel Ifil before having a shot blocked by the Aberdeen defender.
Graham Carey's fierce angled drive was claimed at the second attempt by Langfield, who then denied substitute Rory Loy twice in quick succession.
First, the on-loan Rangers striker darted in from the left and tried to place the ball into the net only for Langfield to get a strong hand behind the shot and the keeper then held Loy's header.
Howard stretched to tip another accurate Mulgrew free-kick over for a corner.
Craig Dargo, who had earlier replaced Steven Robb for Saints, fired a snapshot over in injury time.
