St Mirren have signed Celtic midfielder Graham Carey on loan until the summer and have released striker Paul Quinn.

The 20-year-old Carey, who joined Celtic from Shelbourne in 2005, has represented Republic of Ireland at Under-17, Under-19 and Under-21 levels.

He was on loan to Bohemians last season and made his Celtic debut this season when he came on as a substitute against Rapid Vienna in the Europa League.

Quinn, recently on loan to Queen's Park, came through the youth ranks.

However, despite being named on the Buddies bench, did not make a first-team appearance for the Scottish Premier League club.

"This morning, Paul Quinn agreed to terminate his contract with St Mirren Football Club," said a club statement.

Quinn scored two goals in eight appearances for the Spiders in Division Three.

Carey will bolster the St Mirren midfield after the sale of Stephen McGinn to Watford.

Rangers striker Rory Loy had already been recruited as cover for the release of Dennis Wyness.
