Gus MacPherson praised his side's battling qualities |
St Mirren manager Gus MacPherson bemoaned his side's slow start to their 2-1 defeat to Inverness, but praised their fighting spirit. "You can't give anyone in football a two-goal start and expect to come back," he said.
"But we almost did it because we had a couple of chances at the death and Inverness were hanging on.
"The last 20 minutes was one-way traffic, but we just couldn't get the second goal," added MacPherson.
The St Mirren manager is concerned at the lack of depth in his squad, as Simon Lappin and Hugh Murray could face some time out injured.
"Murray will be out for quite a while and we will need to seek medical advice on Lappin because of his memory loss," said MacPherson.
"We are really short of numbers, as we have nine professionals out and we can't handle that.
MacPherson admitted he is finding it hard to add numbers to his squad in the January transfer window. "It is difficult when you want to strengthen a squad, if players are under contract to other clubs," he said.
