McInnes expects St Johnstone to concentrate better after their 3-2 defeat by Kilmarnock

St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes was annoyed that his side lacked focus after surrendering a lead against Kilmarnock to lose 3-2.

"We were the better side for long stages in the game," said McInnes.

"We were comfortable, but lack of organisation and concentration can cost you. We were the victims of that.

"It was also a freak second goal, but in terms of performance, it's difficult to criticise - but we've come away with nothing, which is disappointing."

Kilmarnock twice came back to claim three points in a the five-goal at Rugby Park after Peter MacDonald had taken a 36th-minute lead.

Graham Gartland nullified Chris McGuire's leveller before Garry Hay fired in a 64th-minute equaliser then Kevin Kyle headed in a late winner for Killie.

"You take the positives and negatives from every game, but for us to move on, we need to stop losing three goals away from home," said McInnes.

"If we score two goals away from home at a difficult place like Kilmarnock, you would like to think that would play a part in getting some sort of positive result.

"At the very least, pick up a point. It's different if you haven't played well, but we did play well and we posed a threat.

"But sometimes, when there's not a lot between teams, it comes down to goals.

"It was more in terms of our concentration and we were unlucky with the second goal and you have to try and finish teams off."
