Derek McInnes said his players had performed brilliantly to clinch the title
St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes praised his squad after they clinched the First Division title.
Saturday's 3-1 win over Morton at McDiarmid Park secured Scottish Premier League football for next season.
"The supporters couldn't have asked for a more committed and gutsy team this season," McInnes told BBC Scotland.
"To break the club's undefeated record; to be top of the league from October. They've lived with it, they've dealt with it and they've come up trumps."
Meanwhile the club's chairman Geoff Brown says he cannot set McInnes' transfer budget for the coming season until broadcaster Setanta and the SPL decide whether to renegotiate the terms of the £125m television contract.
Brown said: "I've been reading about the Setanta thing and that needs to be resolved before we can see where we're at.
"However, most sides that have gone up have shown what's possible if you can just get off to a good start.
"I don't believe there's that much difference between the bottom six in the SPL and the top half of the First Division."
