Craig Easton out, Blair Sturrock stays at Southend United
Easton followed boss Paul Sturrock to Southend from Swindon last year
Southend United captain Craig Easton has confirmed to BBC Essex he has left the club, while striker Blair Sturrock has signed a new one-year contract.
Easton, 32, held discussions over a new deal but failed to agree terms.
It is understood Chris Barker will replace him as skipper, with new signing Neil Harris named vice-captain.
Sturrock, 29, joined on a free transfer after leaving Mansfield Town last summer and scored six goals during the 2010/11 campaign.
He was regularly used in his first season with the south Essex side, featuring in 43 league matches.
Midfielder Easton, who played under Shrimpers boss and fellow Scot Paul Sturrock at Swindon, arrived at Roots Hall 12 months ago and went on to play 38 times, scoring five goals.
