Southend United name Tara Brady new chief executive

Southend United

Southend United have appointed Tara Brady as chief executive to replace the outgoing Geoffrey King.

Chairman Ron Martin said the change was "part of a planned strategic move following a detailed review".

Brady leaves his role as CEO of IT management company Calyx Managed Services, where he has been since 2008.

"Ron is well known to me and I view this as a partnership to promote the club's success through the new stadium project," he told the Southend website.

"Relegation last year was a blow to everyone but now we are only looking forward and I am highly motivated to help bring success to Southend United and the town."

After 12 years as chief executive King will continue to assist the club's ongoing attempts to start work on a new stadium at Fossetts Farm.

The plans have been put back numerous times due to financial constraints.

"Tara's appointment will bring renewed energy and focus whilst enabling Geoffrey to help me accelerate the club's move to the new stadium," added Martin.

"Which holds the key to fulfilling Southend United's enormous potential to not only compete but sustain a position at the highest level."
