Christophe has now scored three goals for Southend this season

Southend boss Steve Tilson was highly impressed by Jean-Francois Christophe's stunning strike against Peterborough.

The midfielder, 21, helped the Shrimpers to a 2-1 win on Saturday with a spectacular overhead-kick equaliser that left his manager full of praise.

"What a finish - if Dennis Bergkamp or Ronaldo had done that it would be splattered all over the papers," Tilson told BBC Essex.

"It was fantastic technique and a great finish which got us going again."

"It was certainly better than his headers when he gets in those positions, when he keeps putting them over the bar, and I keep telling him that," quipped the Blues boss.

The three points gained against the League One high-flyers lifted the Essex side to 13th in the table, just eight points from a play-off spot.
