Feeney has never played at Football League level before
Southend United midfielder Liam Feeney is determined to take his chance at Football League level.
The 21-year-old has joined the Blues on loan from Salisbury with a permanent transfer a possibility in January.
Feeney has scored two goals in 18 Blue Square Premier games for Salisbury this season and has always dreamed of playing in the Football League.
He told BBC Essex: "I've done things the hard way and worked my way up but I'm keen to take this chance."
Feeney was due to move to Dagenham & Redbridge last week but that move fell through when the two clubs failed to agree a fee for a permanent move in January.
He said: "The Southend move has come as a surprise as when the Dagenham deal fell through I was ready to get my head down at Salisbury, but suddenly I got a call to say Southend were interested and here I am."
The former Hayes player cannot play against Luton at the weekend as he is cup tied but he is desperate to prove his worth.
He said: "I've seen the standard here is pretty high so I'm going to have to roll my sleeves up and work hard but I don't want to look back, I want to be a League player."
