Christophe will stay at Roots Hall until the end of October

Southend United have extended their loan deal with midfielder Jean-Francois Christophe for a further month.

The 21-year-old Frenchman has made five appearances for the League One side since joining on loan from Portsmouth at the beginning of September.

Southend manager Steve Tilson told the club's website: "He's been excellent for us and I'm pleased he will be staying for longer.

"He does a good job as a holding midfielder and helps the defence."
