Southend head of youth Ricky Duncan has signed a new two-year deal at Roots Hall, as has centre of excellence manager Luke Hobbs. Duncan arrived at Southend from Cambridge in July 2005, with Hobbs following him later that year.
"We are ready to become an academy club within the next two years," Duncan told the club's website.
Meanwhile, the Shrimpers will visit non-league side Maldon Town in a pre-season friendly on 25 July.
The Shrimpers will also visit Witham Town (14 July), Great Wakering Rovers (17 July), Canvey Island (20 July) and Dagenham & Redbridge (23 July), while they will host West Ham on 28 July.
