Tilson is remaining cautious over Southend's promotion chances |
Boss Steve Tilson celebrated "a massive win" as League One leaders Southend won 3-0 at Essex rivals and fellow promotion contenders Colchester. "To be honest, if we had got a point I would have been pleased," he said.
"It was only three weeks ago that Colchester hadn't been beaten for 20 games, so coming to Layer Road and winning 3-0 is a tremendous result.
"Results have gone our way, but there are 10 games to go and we have to take each one as it comes."
Shrimpers chairman Ron Martin has completed his buy-out of fellow joint owner Delancey Estates' stake in the club. The purchase of the remaining shares in South Eastern Leisure (UK) Limited, the club's holding company, includes the freehold of their Roots Hall ground, as well as the training ground and an additional portion of land where a new stadium is planned.
"We will now, in the coming months, be taking the new stadium proposals forward with the local authority," Martin told his club's website.
"The ability to relocate to a new facility, subject to planning permission, is an essential requirement if the club is to grow and prosper."
