Southampton chairman Leon Crouch says he will oppose any return of former chairmen Rupert Lowe and Michael Wilde to the club.
It was revealed last week that Lowe and Wilde could form an alliance to seize back power.
But Crouch told BBC Radio Solent: "Rupert had nine years, and didn't get it right. The reason we're struggling, is because he got us relegated."
"Michael Wilde promised a bright future for the club, but delivered nothing."
"Why would the fans listen to them again?" Crouch added.
He was speaking at the unveiling of the new statue outside the St Mary's Stadium, to commemorate the life of Saints legend Ted Bates.
