Michael Ricketts made his England debut against Holland in 2002

Ricketts is a free agent after having his contract cancelled by Oldham in January and is looking to kickstart his career at Southampton.

His England debut came against Holland in 2002 and the 29-year-old also had spells at Middlesbrough and Preston.

"It never hurts to have a look at players and with his record he's worth it," said Saints boss Nigel Pearson.
