Southampton chief scout John Gorman will fill in as first-team coach during pre-season training until a successor to Glynn Snodin is in place. Snodin left Saints this week to link up with Alan Curbishley at West Ham.
Meanwhile, boss George Burley has warned Fulham and other potential suitors that want-away defender Chris Baird will not be sold on the cheap.
"He is under contract for two years and will only go when it's right for the club," Burley told BBC Radio Solent.
"That's the same with any player."
The Northern Ireland international recently handed in a transfer request after Saints rejected a �2.5m bid for him from Fulham.
