Southampton boss Harry Redknapp feels he needs to sign "four or five" new players before the new season begins. "I've lost three left-sided players from last season in Olivier Bernard, Graeme Le Saux, and Jelle van Damme, who's out on loan," he explained.
"Danny Higginbotham's also injured, so I had to play young Kyle Critchell at left-back at Bournemouth on Friday.
"Neil McCann's injured so we've got no wide left player, while I've also lost Paul Telfer on the right-hand side."
One potential recruit could be Polish international trialist Tomasz Hajto, who played the full 90 minutes in central defence as Redknapp's men drew 1-1 in their friendly at Bournemouth.
The Saints manager added: "Hajto has done well this week, and he may be one I try to get in.
"We need to look up front as well, as losing Peter Crouch and Kevin Phillips was a blow, but we've got to move forward and get some new players in."
