Lowe does not want to endanger the club's future |
Southampton chairman Rupert Lowe has told manager Harry Redknapp he will not be given all the money from the 7m sale of Peter Crouch to Liverpool. "While people may think we have a lot of money after selling Crouch, it's only a lot if it's spare cash.
"Any spare money will be reinvested in new players.
"But we also have a duty to the next generation of fans and players to make sure we are financially stable and don't go into administration."
Redknapp wants funds to bolster his squad and help steer the club back into the Premiership at the first attempt.
But Lowe added: "The search for players always goes on but when you suffer the indignity of relegation, it becomes harder to attract players."
