Promotion-chasing Shrewsbury Town have been warned by captain Ian Sharps not to take a home win for granted against Oxford on the final day of the season.

To win the last League Two automatic promotion place, Town must win and hope that Wycombe slip up against Southend.

But Sharps told BBC Radio Shropshire: "When I was at Rotherham we went to Bristol City on the last day when they needed a win to go up.

"We went there determined to be party poopers and Oxford will do the same."

Rotherham put up strong resistance before being beaten 3-1 by Championship-bound City that day in 2007, in front of 20,000 fans at Ashton Gate.

And Sharps expects another good atmosphere at the Meadow for a game that is already an 8,500 sell-out.

"The crowd have been brilliant over the last few weeks," Sharps said.

"They've come out in numbers and we've really appreciated it as players.

"Hopefully they can back us again and we can produce a performance and a result worthy of it.

"We can't get carried away. It's a game of football that we need to win. That's what we've done all season, and that's what we must do to the end."
