Craig Disley to show Shrewsbury he is fully fit again

Craig Disley says he wants to be part of Shrewsbury's promotion drive after recovering from a long-term muscle injury in his hip.

The midfielder has started the last four games after being sidelined for nearly two months.

"It's been hard work, but I'm set on showing I'm fully fit and part of the team," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"It took a while to get back to how I was before but now I feel I can help the team drive on for promotion."

Disley, who started his career at Mansfield and then had a five-year spell at Bristol Rovers, joined Shrewsbury for the 2009-10 season, and played regularly until picking up a knee injury.

This season he has made 21 starts for the Shrews, returning after his injury to play at Barnet on 15 January.

"I'm still doing strengthening exercises, and I've never had so many massages," he added.

"I've never had a muscle injury before, so I was a bit wary of it pulling again when I was playing.

"But as soon as you start a game those thoughts go out of your head - and fingers crossed, that's the end of it now."
