Shrewsbury are in discussions to extend the loan deals of Bristol Rovers midfielder Mark Wright and Watford defender Mat Sadler.
Sadler has been an ever-present, while Wright has scored 10 goals.
"I've had a chat with Watford and with Mark Wright's representative and I'd like to keep both," Shrews boss Graham Turner told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"Talks are ongoing. Their current deals end in January so the time factor adds extra pressure."
Meanwhile, Benjamin van den Broek has undergone surgery on the knee problem that has kept him out in recent weeks.
The Dutchman is expected to be on the sidelines until February at the earliest.
