Shrewsbury Town close to naming new manager

Shrewsbury Town

Shrewsbury Town hope to announce their new manager within the next two weeks.

Town have been without a manager since April when Paul Simpson was sacked following their failure to reach the League Two play-offs.

Vice-chairman Keith Sayfritz said: "The board have taken their time to look at the applications and are confident they have chosen the right person.

"The quality of names applying for the job shows how far the club has come over recent years."

Former manager Graham Turner, currently owner of Hereford United, Jim Gannon and former Wolves defender Mark Venus have all been linked with the job.
