Shrewsbury Town fans could resurrect Meadow memories
Shrewsbury Town moved to their new ground three years ago
Shrewsbury Town fans have been given the chance to bring back the historic Meadow name from the club's old ground.
Town's new sponsors opened up the stadium naming rights, and wanted supporters to vote for the Greenhous Stadium, Arena, Park, or Coliseum.
But after reaction from listeners to BBC Radio Shropshire, they have added the Greenhous Meadow - in memory of the ground the club left three years ago.
"We're proud to listen to what fans want," said a Greenhous spokeswoman.
The naming rights are part of a new sponsorship package deal with the local car dealership. The company will also have their name on Town shirts, as they did 20 years ago.
Shrewsbury moved to their current ground in 2007, and it took on the name of their previous kit sponsors Prostar.
The new deal, sealed for an undisclosed sum, will also see Shrewsbury abandoning their blue and amber colours to revert to a more historical blue shirts with white shorts.
"We are striving for success here, and this will help us take the club to the next level," the club's commercial director Ian Bebbington told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"But for the fans to be able to choose the name emphasises we are a family and community club as well."
Shrewsbury were formed back in 1886, and as well as the Greenhous branding will carry a special '125 years' logo on their anniversary shirts.
Fans can register their vote for their preferred name via the club or the Greenhous websites.
