Shrewsbury striker Nathan Elder has turned his back on criticism from fans over his goal shortage this season.
Elder, 24, managed just his second goal of the season against Aldershot, but said he would ignore his critics.
"When I start taking notice that's when it starts affecting me more," Elder told BBC Radio Shropshire.
Shrews boss Paul Simpson defended Elder, saying: "I've heard the grumbles from fans, but Nathan will always work his socks off."
Simpson added: "He'll get a lot of satisfaction from that goal, and hopefully his performances will improve even more."
Elder said that Simpson has been supportive during the drought, and that he enjoyed making the score sheet again.
"It's always a good feeling. It's been a long time coming but I finally got there," Elder said.
"The way this manager works is that if you're working hard, you're running and running, the goals come second to that. He takes you on your work rate not just your stats and that's the main thing."
