Shrewsbury returned to winning ways after three defeats to leapfrog 10-man Aldershot with victory.
Louis Soares's strike put Aldershot in front after four minutes before Scott Donnelly missed from close range.
Waide Fairhurst equalised on his debut with a neat finish from 15 yards and moments later David Winfield was sent off for butting Lewis Neal.
Neal curled a 20-yard free-kick into the top corner and a four-man move ended with Nathan Elder tapping in.
Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire:
"Aldershot were clearly the stronger side at the start, but when their man (Dave Winfield) was sent off it gave us the lift, the momentum.
"Our two new signings were fantastic. Waide Fairhurst took his goal excellently - it was a great finish - and Jamie Devitt was positive in his running and showed good quality into the box.
"I'm delighted Nathan Elder got a goal too. He's come in for criticism from the fans, but he's worked his socks off - as always."
Aldershot caretaker manager Jason Dodd told BBC Surrey:
"We went one goal up and we could have been two or three up before they got back into the game.
"It was disappointing the way we lost our first goal. We'd obviously been working on it this week, about losing the ball in key areas.
"Again we had the ball, we lost it in and around the box, people were out of position and we conceded."
