Shrews lose Murray for six weeks

Weekend matchwinner Paul Murray will be out until October

Shrewsbury Town midfielder Paul Murray has been ruled out for six weeks after discovering his sore ankle is due to a partial rupture of his Achilles tendon.

"It's been rather sore, but a scan's shown it's worse than that," boss Paul Simpson told BBC Radio Shropshire.

"At least we've caught it. A complete rupture could have seen Paul out for nine months."

Another scan has confirmed that David Hunt has strained ligaments in his knee and he is out until September.

Murray's 25-yard shot earned Shrewsbury their 1-0 win at Exeter at the weekend to maintain Town's winning cent start to the League Two campaign.

Meanwhile Shrewsbury are in talks with West Brom about extending goalkeeper Luke Daniels' loan spell with the League Two side.
