Simpson confirms player enquiries

Paul Simpson
Simpson wants to reduce the size of his squad

Shrewsbury manager Paul Simpson has said he has had enquiries for several of his players.

But the Shrews boss added that no firm offers have been made and he is unsure if there will be any more interest in his squad.

The Shrews boss told BBC Radio Shropshire: "That may change over the coming months.

"There aren't too many clubs who are happy to take players out of contract and pay them over the summer."

Meanwhile Simpson said he is hoping to make at least one more signing before the end of the week but reiterated the need to reduce the size of his squad.

"I think the big thing we've got to do is start looking to move a few on.

"We've got quite a big squad, I want to move a couple on but only players who I think we can afford to move on."
