Asa Hall is looking to prove Birmingham City were wrong to release him now that his loan deal with Shrewsbury Town is about to be made permanent.
"It's a dream move for me, and I'm really excited about being here next season," the 21-year-old midfielder told BBC Radio Shropshire.
He was close to getting a deal earlier in the season but had to prove himself again once Gary Peters had been sacked.
"I've had to work hard to make an impression all over again," he said.
Hall, who scored Shrewsbury's final goal of the campaign in Saturday's season-closing 1-1 draw at Rochdale, is already looking forward to August.
"The gaffer's really going for a higher league," he said. "And the future of the club is very bright. So is mine, I hope."
