Rochdale fielded a much-weakened side ahead of the play-offs but still earned a deserved point against Shrewsbury to secure fifth place in League Two.
The Shrews had the better of the first period and took the lead through Asa Hall's header.
Dale improved after the break and drew level when Chris Dagnall seized upon a handling error from away keeper Scott Bevan to fire the ball home.
Keith Hill's men face Darlington in the play-off semi-finals.
