Langmead will continue to lead the side this weekend |
Shrewsbury manager Gary Peters has revealed it was the players' decision to appoint Kelvin Langmead as captain, while Ben Davies recovers from injury. "It was a decision I left to the players, and they have made a good choice," manager Gary Peters told BBC Radio Shropshire.
"Kelv's done a great job over the years and deserves the role.
"He's in the team most of the time, and that's obviously something important for a captain."
Davies threw the armband to Langmead when he went off against MK Dons, and he will lead the side again against Hereford this weekend.
"The players are backing him, and I'm certainly not going to change what I see as a good decision," said Peters.
Shrewsbury's injury problems have increased, with defender Darran Kempson missing training this week.
But Peters has ruled out bringing back Luke Jones from his loan spell at Kidderminster. "We have a good squad of players to cover every position," he said.
