Peters polices new boy Constable
James Constable
Peters is determined to keep Constable's feet on the ground
Manager Gary Peters is planning to keep Shrewsbury Town's new goalscoring hero James Constable in check after he rescued a point against MK Dons.

Constable has hit three goals in the last two games, including a brace in the 3-3 draw with the League Two leaders on Tuesday.

But Peters told BBC Radio Shropshire: "We won't get too excited about that.

"We knew he's a goalscorer, that's why we brought him in, and now he's got to keep it going."

Constable, who joined Shrewsbury from Kidderminster during the January transfer window, has refused to set himself a goal target for the season, preferring just to aim at making a first-team place his own.

But there was no disguising his delight in the Milton Keynes game, especially at his injury-time equaliser that capped an excellent Shrewsbury comeback from 3-0 down.

Peters has confirmed that Constable will be in the starting line-up again on Saturday for Shrewsbury's trip to Morecambe.

He will partner Guy Madjo, with top scorer Dave Hibbert missing out thanks to a one-game ban.

"After that, it'll be up to Hibbert to win his place back," Peters added.
