Peters is determined to keep Constable's feet on the ground |
Manager Gary Peters is planning to keep Shrewsbury Town's new goalscoring hero James Constable in check after he rescued a point against MK Dons. Constable has hit three goals in the last two games, including a brace in the 3-3 draw with the League Two leaders on Tuesday.
But Peters told BBC Radio Shropshire: "We won't get too excited about that.
"We knew he's a goalscorer, that's why we brought him in, and now he's got to keep it going."
Constable, who joined Shrewsbury from Kidderminster during the January transfer window, has refused to set himself a goal target for the season, preferring just to aim at making a first-team place his own.
But there was no disguising his delight in the Milton Keynes game, especially at his injury-time equaliser that capped an excellent Shrewsbury comeback from 3-0 down.
Peters has confirmed that Constable will be in the starting line-up again on Saturday for Shrewsbury's trip to Morecambe.
He will partner Guy Madjo, with top scorer Dave Hibbert missing out thanks to a one-game ban.
"After that, it'll be up to Hibbert to win his place back," Peters added.
