Morrison relishing new found competition for places

Sheffield Wednesday striker Clinton Morrison is excited by the number of players that could be arriving at the club this month.

Chairman Milan Mandaric has indicated he would still like to bring in as many as six new players.

Morrison, 31, says the existing squad are looking forward to the challenge of increased competition for places.

"I like the battle, I've had it all throughout my career" Morrison told BBC Radio Sheffield.

He added: "I think it is good for the club, good for the fans and good for everyone.

"You do not want players just turning up thinking it does not matter how they play they are going to be involved in the next game.

"They should know that there could be someone breathing down their neck and that is how this football club should be because it is a massive club."

The Owls have already brought in Reda Johnson from Plymouth Argyle and Michael Morrison from Leicester City during the transfer window.
