Sheffield Wednesday have released seven players including first-team regulars Ronnie Wallwork, Burton O'Brien, Rob Burch and Lee Bullen.
First-year professionals Jason Bradley, Dave McClemments and James Kay have also been let go.
Chief executive Kaven Walker told BBC Radio Sheffield: "He [Brian Laws] has made changes where he believes we need to make some.
"It gives the chance for youngsters to come through."
Wednesday have offered new contracts to Sean McAllister, Luke Boden, Liam McMenamin and Richard O'Donnell along with academy scholars Arron Jameson and Sam Liversidge.
Meanwhile the club have also announced their full pre-season schedule.
Following a five-day tour of Holland the Owls will play away friendlies at Stocksbridge on 23 July, Bury on 26 July, Chesterfield on 29 July and Sheffield FC on 30 July.
Wednesday finish their pre-season with a home friendly against Premier League side Wigan on Saturday 2 August.
