Sheffield United midfielder Nick Montgomery has been sidelined for up to six weeks with a cartilage tear and possible knee ligament damage.
The 29-year-old, who suffered the injury in Blades' 1-1 draw with Millwall on Saturday, is expected to see a specialist on Monday.
Manager Micky Adams told the club website: "It's a massive blow for our hopes of climbing out of trouble.
"He has been excellent. His leadership quality is there for all to see."
