Sheffield United manager Micky Adams says he is still hoping to sign more players before the transfer window closes on 31 January.

Blades have already brought in loan signings Marcus Bent, Shane Lowry, Joe Mattock and Danny Philliskirk.

Irish pair David McAllister and Seamus Conneely have also arrived at Bramall Lane on 18-month deals.

"We have got a number of irons in the fire but we have got to be patient," Adams told BBC Radio Sheffield.

He added: "I'd rather the players walked through the door now because I would have longer to work with them.

"The longer I have got with them this season hopefully the better we will be.

"If it means I have to be a little bit patient either next week or the week after when the window shuts then I will have to be."

Adams is likely to focus on replacing midfielder Leon Britton, who completed his return to Swansea this week just seven months after signing for the Blades.

They are also suffering a number of injury woes, with striker Richard Cresswell and defender Andy Taylor both long-term absentees.
