Former Sheffield United goalkeeper Alan Kelly is backing Paddy Kenny to be a success when he completes his suspension for failing a drugs test.
Kenny, 31, will be available for the Blades in April when his ban expires.
Kelly, who is now coaching with the Republic of Ireland, says Kenny could return to Irish international fold.
He said: "I think when he's back playing and he's doing well for Sheffield United then he gives himself every chance."
He added: "He's got to look to come back next season being strong, starting again and seeing where that takes him."
"I spoke to him in the summer and he seemed very positive."
Kenny tested positive for the banned substance ephedrine after last season's Championship play-off tie with Preston.
