Sheffield United midfielder Nick Montgomery has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at Bramall Lane until next summer.
The 27-year-old has been a regular in the first-team squad since coming through the club's youth system.
He told BBC Radio Sheffield he was relieved to have sorted out his future.
"I've just signed a 12-month extension to my contract," said Montgomery. "I am a Blade and I have been since I left school and it is in my heart."
Montgomery said signing his extended deal could not alter the disappointment he felt at Monday's play-off final defeat by Burnley.

He added: "I just feel sorry for all the fans because they deserve to be in the Premier League and Sheffield United does as well.
"I'm hurting for everyone and for the club and no words can describe the emptiness I'm feeling at the moment."
