Sheffield United chairman Kevin McCabe says that the money the Blades have been awarded from the Carlos Tevez affair will not be used to buy players.
The undisclosed compensation figure is being paid in instalments and the Blades expect some of the money soon.
McCabe told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It'll be used to run the club, of that there's no doubt."
Tevez helped West Ham send the Blades down in 2007 despite breaching rules over third-party ownership.
