Naysmith made 41 appearances in his debut season for the Blades
Sheffield United defender Gary Naysmith believes the Steel City derby is more intense than its Merseyside equivalent.
The Scottish international has played for Everton against Liverpool and for Hearts against Hibernian.
"The Sheffield derby is more like the Hearts-Hibs Derby because there's a bit of hatred between the fans," Naysmith, 29, told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"In the Merseyside derby you would see fans mixing, you certainly couldn't do that in the other two derbies."
The defender joined the Blades from Everton last season and was involved in one of the two Steel City derbies.
The Blades failed to win either, losing and drawing one.
"The Sheffield derby certainly compares more to the Hearts-Hibs derby than the Merseyside derby, mainly because of the way the fans feel about each other.
"When I played for Everton you would pull up in the coach at Anfield and see the mum and son with the Liverpool strip and the dad and daughter in the Everton strip.
"So that was a different type of derby to others. I haven't seen that during my time in Sheffield or Scotland."
Hear live and exclusive commentary of the Sheffield derby on BBC Radio Sheffield's Football Heaven on Sunday on 88.6, 94.7 & 104.1 FM, 1035 AM and DAB. All the build-up starts at 1200 BST.
