Shelton scored four goals for the Blades last season

Striker Luton Shelton has left Sheffield United and joined Norwegian side Valarenga in a �1m deal.

Shelton scored four times for the Blades after making his full debut at Manchester United 18 months ago.

"He wasn't what I was looking for, he's a maverick type player and I wanted someone to work within a team," manager Kevin Blackwell told BBC Sheffield.

"He wasn't going to get enough first team chances here, I think this is a good deal for both clubs."
